Treat our water with respect

Contaminating The Environment

Our Oceans and waterways are sacred, please keep them clean.

It’s everyone’s responsibility to keep our water clean

One of the main things that people can do to help the environment is to use water responsibly and sparingly. Making sure that you are not polluting the water supply by chemical, or other means is a great way to ensure the future of clean water across the globe. Following the tips below you can go a long way to reducing water pollution, and leaving clean water for future generations.

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle

Properly disposing of things that cannot be recycled stops them from polluting our already dirty rivers, streams and oceans. You would be amazed at how the smallest of items such as a cigarette butt have a drastic environmental effect. When people toss their cigarettes to the ground at a beach or riverside area those butts can end up traveling upstream and polluting the very water we rely on for sustenance.

Minimize Your use of Harsh Chemicals

If you can minimize or even eliminate your use of harsh chemicals this can make a huge difference in protecting our global water supple from pollution. When you use harsh chemicals those chemical can then be absorbed into a body of water, this can have devastating results on ecosystems and wildlife such as fish and game. Some chemical such as nitrogen and phosphorus, which are common ingredients in man-made fertilizers, can lead to an algae growth surge when they enter a body of water. This surge of algae can kill off existing aquatic life and make the surviving aquatic life ineligible for human consumption.

Properly dispose of Hazardous Materials

Correctly disposing of materials like paint, automotive and household oils, as well as unused or outdated pharmaceuticals prevents them from entering our water supply. Talk to your local county or municipal center about chemical recycling centers in your area.

Reduce Your Water Usage

By lowering your water usage, you can help keep our already diminishing water stores cleaner. This will also help to keep water available in our aquifers and water towers for those times when people really need it such as a drought or heavy water shortage. As we have experienced with recent droughts, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Ensure that water run-off is minimal

When you wash your car or water your lawn, the water that runs off into the street can contain chemicals that can taint our current water supply. Consider sweeping your driveway or patio to get rid or debris -OR- sweep before you rinse, this can cut the water run-off by half. When you wash your car, use a bucket of water instead of just hosing away. Porous outdoor surfaces such gravel and gardens can help to minimize run-off as well.

Try Water Recapturing

Designing a home rainwater capture system, a system which captures rainwater from your gutters or in the middle of storm, can be both fun and educational. The basic rainwater capture system channels through rain gutters into barrel for collection where you can then filter it and use it. Gray water systems can be designed by professionals to recirculate water throughout your home in ways that are non-contaminating. Gray water systems filter waste water (such as from showers, toilets or sinks) and use that water for irrigation and other non-potable uses.

Please use the above tips, before it’s too late!

By treating our water with respect, we respect ourselves. We also respect our descendants by leaving them clean, life saving water stores for years to come. Remember that it only takes a little effort to save a lot.

Stop waiting and join the party!

More people everyday are joining the band on the clean energy train, and for highly logical reasons. You help the world as well as save money in new, inventive and creative ways. But you can also have a lot of fun by doing little projects to save the environment utilizing greener energy.

Useful tips on how you can start using green energy immediately.

Tip Number 1: When installing the lights for a patio or a garden path, consider green power lamps instead of traditionally powered lamps. Most green power lamps use solar energy so they can greatly decrease your power consumptions and in turn your costs. You can also save yourself hours of hassle and frustration by not having to wire your lights.

Tip Number 2: Check furnace filters regularly for cleanliness. This can help save you lots money, as clogged up furnace filters can waste energy and wear your furnace out.

Tip Number 3: Think about replacing your old gas water heater with a solar-powered water heater. Solar Powered Heaters can often save energy costs by using the power of the suns rays. Just make sure to keep a standard water heater as a backup should there be any shortage of sunlight for a prolonged length of time.

Tip Number 4: Only run the dishwasher when it’s full in order to conserve power as well as money. Most dishwasher’s can fit more than a few dishes when loaded the right way. This also cuts down the amount of times you have to wash dishes.

Tip Number 5: Turn off appliances when not in use. This may be a no brainer but you dont want to leave lights or appliances on in an empty room. If the problem is that you have to turn of all of the devices one by one, invest in a power strip, you can use it to turn off all of the devices in the room at once. But be careful not to overload the power strip, you could cause a bad fire!

Tip Number 6: Building a new home? In the market for a home? Congratulations on saving up for your new residence. However consider a tankless water heater for your home. While tankless water heaters require energy for operation, they also heat water on demand so energy does not get wasted by having to keep a full tank of hot water for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week! You can buy tankless heaters that supply one single faucet with hot water on demand, but there are certain models which supply the whole house. Do your research and see which one you might prefer.

Go forth and save!

Hopefully I have given you some good food for thought, and you can see a lot of benefit from the using tips listed in this article. Green energy can be implemented many different ways into the average consumer’s lifestyle. Use the aforementioned techniques to put green energy to work for you in your home. Go forth and save some green!

The Ins And Outs Of Solar Power

You’ve probably heard all of the chatter lately regarding solar energy. Solar Power uses the sun’s rays to provide electricity for homes and businesses. It is a fantastic way to free yourself of the shackles of the electrical grid for good. Please enjoy this article as it has some tips to get you started.

Two main types of Solar Panel

There two different types of solar panels: mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline.

If money is no object and if you desire optimal efficiency, mono-crystalline panels are the best choice, while poly-crystalline panels are less expensive. While it makes sense to buy the highest-efficiency product possible, you may not need the extra efficiency that mono-crystalline cells provide.

12 volt or 24 volt, that is the question!

In the past 12 Volt Solar Panels were the standard for low voltage solar energy systems. Most Solar Panel Systems currently are 24V or 48V systems and they include a 230V AC inverter. The benefit of this type of system is that the electrical wiring of your house does not need to be different from any other household that is grid-connected.

Don’t just jump right in.

When switching to solar energy it’s almost always a good idea to start out small. Think about adding solar powered light fixtures throughout your lawn and garden. Outdoor lighting powered by the sun is a popular choice and you can find solar powered lights at most home improvement stores. In addition because they are powered by the sun, all you have to do is shove them into the dirt – and “BOOM!” instant solar lights.

What to do once you have a working Solar System?

Once your solar panel array starts to provide enough power, it’s crucial that you know how to properly store all the energy. Solar Batteries can be used to store up excess energy until you need it. In some places you may be able to sell excess energy to your local energy company and make money back!

You must have a backup solution in case something goes awry with your solar array. One option would be to have a generator of some kind, although you will probably want to stick with your local power grid for these types of emergencies. If you do decide to use a backup generator, make sure and test it often for maximum performance.

Don’t be sold a bill of goods!

High pressure salespeople can often times make you wish you never wanted Solar Power at all. Always make sure and purchase Solar Panels from a reputable dealer. Also make sure you do the proper research beforehand, the last thing you want is to waste money because you did not know what someone was talking about.

You may wish to purchase a solar panel array with a sun tracking system built in. This model of system can track the sun’s motion across the entire day, week, and even the entire year. Because the system tracks the movement of the Sun, you never have to worry about not getting the optimum amount of sunlight. Although the installation costs are more expensive than a fixed panel system, this system may provide extra energy in the long term.

If you are building a house, build solar right into it.

It goes without saying that the best time to consider energy efficient solar options is when you are first building a house. Because you are actually designing a Solar System in the very beginning you can customize everything, right down to how many arrays you may need, what materials save more energy, etc.

Knowledge without usage is worthless

Having increased your knowledge of solar power, you can now make more confident decisions regarding your Solar Powered future. Remember, however, that it is not enough to learn we must apply. So take advantage of some of the tips in this article and share them with friends and family.

Personal Care Contaminating The Environment

Contaminating The Environment

sceneIn nature, mists containing both ice crystals and fluid beads are normal at temperatures below solidifying states. As the climate warms because of carbon dioxide emissions, the relative measure of fluid in these blended stage make mists becomes different. Since fluid mists have a tendency to reflect more daylight back to space than ice mists, this stage acts to lessen a worldwide temperature alteration. The icier the mists in any case, the more fluid is picked up as the planet warms; this balancing out is more grounded in models containing less fluid in respect to ice at sub-solidifying temperatures.

Most atmospheric models are excessively active than solidifying, so they are likely to overstate the expansion as the air warms. This implies they might be deliberately doing little of the amount of warming that will happen in the presence of carbon dioxide.

Health Is wealth

We always say that health is wealth. Truly, natural has always been the way advised. Man has lived by natural means long before and has never gotten as sick as they have today. Due to changing lifestyle and speed of how we live our lives, we have resorted to over the counter options that are convenient. Have we considered how they affect the environment?

How are they affecting the earth for the long term?

The Most Hazardous

Nanoparticle is considered the most hazardous development in the cosmetics field and personal care. They invade blood systems and become part of the circulating foreign materials inside the body. Makeup and anti aging products are likewise using this technology.

Another sunscreen ingredient on the list is oxybenzone. It is defined as a broad spectrum chemical which means it provides skin protection from both UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays. Research shows that is can environmental-clipart-green_powerbe absorbed by the skin. Sweden is one country which banned its use.

Nanoparticles were used primarily as screen blockers. What were used before are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which were safer to use than other chemical counterparts and considered effective.

Concern About Residue

The result is, producers kept on reducing the size of the particles until they became more transparent. Having addressed the concern of the residue, by shrinking it small enough to be unseen, it made the nanoparticles have the ability to enter the cells and become toxic.

Toxicology experts report that it becomes an endocrine disruptor and is linked to cell damage and cancer on the skin. Given its poor skin tolerance, it is known to affect the environment and animals as well. It is linked with liver and bladder cancer in animals.

This chemical is a petroleum-based compound, which is used mainly as product thickeners. It is also used as  solvents, softeners, and moisture carriers.

Passed On To Environment

These are compounds used in the plastic production, which make them soft and pliable. Commonly referred to as plasticizers. It has been widely used in cosmetics, fragrances, alcohol production and personal care. They help for fragrances to last longer by clinging on the skin longer.

environmentPhthalates are also considered endocrine disruptors. They may alter genital development, induce infertility, sperm count decrease, and testicular cancer increase in men. These effects are from long-term use of this chemical component. As they are part of shampoo bottles, they end up contaminating the environment itself.

Hair gels, hairsprays, shampoos/conditioners, soaps, and perfumes are the most popular products to use phthalates. Others are deodorants, nail polish, and air fresheners.

When they are washed away in the drains, they negatively impact marine life once they end up in the oceans and the seas.
